16. K Strategist


This a picture of a human. Humans are K strategists. K strategists, also referred as K-selected species, are species whose populations are near the carrying capacity of the environment in which they inhabit. When compared to r strategists K strategists have a longer life, slower growth rate, late maturity, few - large offspring, and high parental care or protection. K strategists are usually larger birds, mammals, and plants. Examples of K selected species include: humans, elephants, horses,etc.
